SperlingViews - Overland, Missouri

Overland, MO is a great location to live in near St. Louis, MO. This town was created by an older generation that started their families here and continue to retire in this area. When we purchased our home in Overland, we had the opportunity to meet this generation and learn some of Overland's History. As the future approaches we are unhappy to see how 'businessmen' are taking advantage of this great town by purchasing the houses of the older generation and creating a rental environment. This type of environment does not continue to support the old standards of taking pride in your neighborhood and supporting the schools or businesses. These 'businessmen' are stealing the starter homes from the younger generation. These 'businessmen' are stealing the old town spirit from Overland. These 'businessmen' are bringing more crime into our neighborhood. There are plenty of apartments within the town limits, so the houses should be off-limits to renters. A suggestion to the town of Overland is to charge extra taxes (double the resident house) to those that want to buy these wonderful Overland houses and use them as rental property. Because these 'businessmen' do not actually live in our great town, they are just using it to be profitable.
