TAXES ARE DRIVING US OUT OF NJ - 8/21/2010
With New Jersey residents having the largest property taxes in the Country coupled with many other high costs, including tolls and commutation, NJ politicians are making it impossible for people to stay here, even if you're making a decent income.
In addition to property taxes being off -the-charts, the NJ State Department of Taxation recently raided many NYC 457 employee deferred compensation plans by taking their cut prior to retirement and/or before any withdrawals were actually made. The NJ Department of Taxation says that taxing this money now isn't such a big deal --- by taxing our 457 plan now, they say we won't have to worry about NJ taxing it later when we retire or start drawing that money down.
Although the State of NJ continues to take this money from 457 plan contributors, they have no explanation and really couldn't care less about the tax implications people will have in other states, when they retire and leave the State of NJ.
Its reasons like this that is forcing many people out of what was once considered a great place to live!

Quality of life in Old Bridge - 11/27/2009
My town is a mix of suburban neighborhoods of various economic income levels. Population density is high with slow commuting times. Very convienient to many highways. We are centrally located and can get to either the south or north part of the state with similar travel times. In addition getting into Manhattan is not impossibly slow, however the transportation cost is high.[read more...] |
