Baldwin, Ny I've been here about 1 year. People seem happy with the schools and proximity to the city. People are unhappy about property taxes and interspersed areas of higher crime. My observation is the property taxes are far too high and traffic is ridiculous in the commuting hours. Though when you do have time off there are nice areas to visit good places to eat in garden city.[read more...]

unfair taxes. - 12/25/2008

I own a house in South Carolina, Why is my taxes 2x as much as what everyone else pays. Where is the law that states that if I live in New York, that I much pay double the taxes. Something is wrong in the town that I was born in, or the county is cheating me out of my money. I have a friend in N.Y. who also own in S.C. and she does not have this problem. Someone please explain ,what's going on? I plan on seeking the advice of a lawyer.RJ.[read more...]

life in Baldwin - 6/14/2007

Baldwin is a city on the south shore of Long Island. It is one of the few truly diverse and integrated cities in the state of NY. In Baldwin, the community prides itself on getting along well with others and assisting each other with their children. One neighbor brings my daughter to school along with other children whose parents are working. Another neighbor offered to watch my daughter after school until I came home from work. The children on the block get along well and often play dates are scheduled. We watch out for each others children and do not allow them to hang out in the streets. The schools in the community celebrate all cultures and students from various cultures share their knowlege with others. The children are exposed to all cultures and accept and praise differences in others. Diversity is key to getting along with each other as we navigate into this world that we live in. Kudos to this town that I live in.[read more...]
