Plusses: Excellent school district supported by an affluent taxpayer base. Thriving village center in contrast to most upstate towns. The lake offers a scenic and recreational attraction. Safe and very pleasant place to raise children.
Minuses: High property taxes with few of the usual services in return (e.g., trash collection). Local government that is run by semicompetents in an arbitrary and opaque manner. Typical limited small town conservative views among the citizenry. If your great-great-grandfather wasn't born there, you're treated like an alien.[read more...] |
