Overpriced place to try and build your life as a young person. While living close to NYC certainly has it's advantages (nightlife & job opps) you can never get ahead. Even with the housing market the way it is, it is nearly impossible to afford a house or the taxes without playing smoke & mirrors with your money. And even if you do pull it off you are living in a rundown shack. This is not a place to try and build a life for you and a family unless you want to work and commute around the clock. You can rent someone's basement out for 1300 a month. Unless you are young/ single/ don't mind being broke the perks will ware off real quick. I am looking for some place to relocate...preferably warmer and more affordable.[read more...]

I live in nassau county,long island,ny. The taxes on LI are crazy. I can no longer afford to live here and am looking for another state to live. My only criteria is that it is somewhere near the beach (half hour or less). Went to wilmington, nc this summer-loked it but am finding out more negative things about it.
