 poor substitute for niagara on the lake - 6/2/2011

Lewiston presents itself as a little Niagara on the Lake, but it isn't even close. The town consists of older houses with small rooms and yards...many, many without garages. Restaurants are fair...and expensive, but about the best you will find in western part of the county. Schools great...including superb special ed departments. Taxes high, and no jobs there...strictly bedroom community. Jobs in Buffalo about 20 miles away. Artpark a nice place for free concerts if you like loud rock and roll. Kids must leave family after school due to lack of jobs. Best boxing club in world nearby...Casals Boxing Club. Nice YMCA nearby. Dangerous healthwise...toxic dump located there...millions of tons of waste left over from Manhattan project of WWII...very, very close to school. Town basically for old people...no kids around to play with for your kids. But truthfully one of most beautiful parts of US...bar non. Too bad unhealthy. [read more...]
