Great place to bring up kids. Excellent school system with plenty of extracurricula activities for them to get interested in as well as an active boys & girls club. There a few nice upscale restaurants and stores an annual Arts Festival and summer concerts at the Pavillion.[read more...] |

Orchard Park is a great community to raise kids. Good schools, safe, nearby access to cultural pursuits, low housing costs, great summer weather, etc.
However, subject to lake effect snow(that means lots of), cold winters, high property taxes, high state income tax, high sales tax(8.75%). When the kids are gone will be time to head south for a more temperate climate. Significant other wants access to ocean, but she doesn't want to go to FL - she feels that's where all the old people go. So we are looking from Delaware thru South Carolina. Within an hour to the beach(ocean) for her and access to state or national parks for hiking for me. Smaller town or rural within 90 minutes to a city with cultural activites would be nice.
