A lovely place to live, if not for all the people. - 6/22/2009
I'm not originally from Oyster Bay, so there were certain things that struck me as a newcomer. Firstly I was surprised by how much I loved living by the water. I also love the history of the town, having been home to Teddy Roosevelt. You definately need a car to get around as public transportation is sparse in this part of Long Island. History abounds - 6/3/2007
Growing up in nearby Syosset(which is in the township of Oyster Bay) I can tell you first hand, this is a beautiful, tranquil little hamlet. It is surrounded by historical sights, parks and beaches. That's when they have the annual "Oyster Bay Festival" which has been a town tradition for 23 years.( http://www.theoysterfestival.org/ ) Currently, I live in San Diego. However,I always try to make my way back to soak in the vibrant colors of Long Island's north shore autumn. Try it...you'll like it.[read more...] |
