Fiscal Irreponsibility of Local Government Destroy - 3/2/2009
The City recently defaulted on a $5 million USDA loan jointly with the county on a local prison. In addition, the City is planning a $5 million street project financed primarily with special assessments. The city owns about 40% of all properties so taxes may double in the next year due to this project.The school district had to cut it's 2008-09 budget by $93,000.
