Elyria, OH is a small city located in Lorain County in northeastern Ohio. It has a population of just over 54,000. Despite its size, Elyria offers plenty of exciting things to do for all ages. From the historic Ely Square and Midway Mall to the Black River or nearby theme parks, there's something for everyone here. In addition, Elyria is known for its food scene, with a variety of local restaurants offering delicious dishes that will have you coming back for more.

No desire for good economy here - 8/23/2007
Elyria is a decent place to live, but don't plan on working here. Elyria has a bad habit of driving existing businesses with decent paying jobs away and discouraging others from coming here. Most local businesses have seen their business drop 30 to 50% over last year. Upwards of 20% of single family houses are on the market right now.

Elyria, while it is apart of the Greater Cleveland area, is still a decent city to live in and raise a family, provided there are jobs to allow one to live here. Jobs are becoming more and more scarce and cost of living is on the rise. More and more people are having to go to Cleveland for jobs that may or may not support their lifestyles paycheck wise.
