Living in Lititz, Pennsylvania - 2/22/2012
I've lived in Lititz for 10 years now and am looking forward to many, many more. It is very much Hometown USA, with the beautiful Lititz Springs Park (www.lititzspringspark.org), biking paths, safe and friendly neighborhoods, and a host of specialty shops downtown including Cafe' Chocolate, Tiger's Eye, Ken's Music Center, Sturgis Pretzel Factory, North Star of Lititz (beautiful hand-blown glass www.thenorthstaroflititz.com), Aaron's Books and more.
Every year, there is a craft fair downtown that you have to see to believe. The two main roads (Main Street and Lititz Pike) are blocked off for a mile in each direction with craft and food booths the whole way down. It almost looks like downtown New York City there are so many people. The antique festival in Lititz Springs park brings in antiques from all over the country and the Fourth of July celebration is an all day affair in Lititz Springs Park culminating with a spectacular fireworks display set to music with sound provided by Clair Global.
And finally, Christmastime is ushered in with the lighting of the community Christmas tree and a gathering of hundreds if not thousands in the park to sip cider or hot chocolate while joining a local brass ensemble and choir in singing Christmas hymns. It's like something out of a movie.
Lititz is a wonderful place to raise a family and it's close enough to Baltimore and Philadelphia to make an easy day trip for all those cities have to offer.[read more...] |

Quaint Town, Love to walk the streets and attend t - 6/2/2008
I moved to Lititz during the summer of 2002. I am writing this in summer 2008. I have also lived in New Hampshire, Pottstown, PA, and Willow Street PA. Of these places, I would rank Lititz as one of the best. On walks about town or while sitting on the porch, we found people friendly, talkative and interesting. We enjoy going to downtown Lititz and Lititz Springs Park for summer family outings. Highlights are the 4th of July Celebration, the Arts Walk and Craft Fair. At these functions, and at most other times of the year, it is obvious that Litiz is a relatively safe environment (by today's standards) to raise a family. I am most familiar with ex-military and religious based organizations. All have provided variety of life and have enriched our experiences in Lititz. The night life of Lititz may be a bit less exciting than a larger city, but we have, as far as I know, visited all the local establishments and always had fun greeting friends or meeting new people.[read more...] |
