Bad news - 7/14/2006
Wilkinsburg borders Pittsburgh to the east and is a predominantly low-income area. The crime rate is VERY high, schools are terrible and many of the neighborhoods are downright hostile and dangerous. There are a few apartment complexes on Penn Avenue away from central Wilkinsburg (in the area that calls itself Blackridge because it doesn't want to admit that it is actually Wilkinsburg) that aren't too bad. Rents are cheap - but with good reason. Unless you are especially fond of urban blight, look elsewhere if you are planning to relocate.[read more...] |
