Middletown is a nice place to raise a family and a beautiful city in some parts. Although, it is expensive and not easy for single parents or lower income families to thrive. Everything from housing to gas and food is much more expensive because of being on an island and the extra taxes and "importing" of goods. (yes, there are extra taxes for that) The schools are good and you get a decent education. There are good jobs and the naval base, which helps the economy. But for people who are not well off or who don't have well paying jobs, living on the island can be tough.[read more...]
