I'll Never Know What all The Fuss Was About... - 5/25/2010
I am originally from Maryland, but spent over 25 years in El Paso,Texas. I had the misfortune of having to live in Houston for about 4 years back in the later 70's, and promised myself that I would never live there again! Between the humidity and the incredible crowds, it was just plain unbearable! In January of 2005, I had the misfortune of having to re locate to Bedford, Texas. There just seems to be something about East Texas.... It ISN'T TEXAS!! West Texas is Texas! I can honestly say from personal experience that Texas ends just west of Fort Worth! By the time you get to Bedford, you may as well be in New York City!! Between the illiterate "Bubba Drugstore Cowboys" and their useless pickup truck littering up the freeways, and the other incredibly rude drivers on the interstates and local highways, it's a miracle I made it out alive! The cost of living there I thought was rather high owing to the excessive taxes! The sales tax of 10.25% after the county and city add their regional taxes to the states 6.25% make it a joke to buy anything of any value! The only thing that East Texas has going for it is Rick Perry. He is a good governor, but that is where it ends.... I am in Nevada now... God's country..back in the desert where I belong! Less taxes, clean air for a change, and one person per square mile, instead of 50 people per square foot![read more...] |

Bedford Living - 8/15/2007
I've lived in this area, same house, for over 20 years. Of course, its grown more than I would like but it still remains a great place to live. Part of the "Mid-Cities" of the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex, the most attractive thing is the accessibility to both major cities and all the activities surrounding the metroplex. We are very close to DFW Airport as well.[read more...] |
