Not like it use to be! - 9/17/2011
I have lived here for the last 52 years, and my parents and grandparents were also born here in Gainesville, Cooke county. I am very disheartened by the increase in crime. We have had our church broke into twice and now have security for our CHURCH. I live in a very good part-of-town however, I have had a truck, a trailer stolen in broad daylight. I have had a car torched in front of my home. I can not leave anything out that is not locked up or tied down. I have a small stack of police reports and nothing else. I am very sad that we are moving away from Christian values were we are taught not to steal.[read more...] |

Quality of life for African Americans - 11/30/2010
Unemplyment for peoples of African descent seem to be way higher than the city average. Culturally the town is very segregated emotional and culturaly with limited opprtunities for AAs. [read more...] |
