Being a resident of Little Elm and also a New Home Sales Consultant with a Texas Based Builder, I also sell homes in the city of Little Elm. I can honestly admit that my decision to move here 7 years ago before Little Elm was on the map has been an absolute gift! Home values are stable, you get more home per square foot for the money (unlike sister cities) and, tax rates are low. Our homeowner and automobile insurance rates are the lowest in the metro area(Denton County)and the growth is very stable comparitive to other locations. Recently, Little Elm has had several great retail and restaurants open to include Hobby Lobby, Lowe's, Wal-Mart, 24 Hour Fitness, Kobe Steak & Sushi, Starbucks, and many more with several new retail developments in the works. If you like the small town feel with a proud town attitude, you'll love Little Elm, TX. Although infrastructure is a little challenging, it is improving daily and the focus is on this area since our growth has been extreme the past few years. Little Elm is a suburb town about an hour north of Dallas. The main atmosphere in the town is very suburban and people are friendly. Cost of living is somewhat low compared to the rest of the nation. I have lived in the area for 14 years and have seen the population go from 1,200 to over 25,000. Most of the boom occurred after 2000 when neighboring city Frisco turned into boomtown. Pros: -Small Town Atmosphere -Cheap Housing Cost -Improving School District -Close to big city atmosphere (1 to 1.5 hours to downtown Dallas or Ft. Worth) -45 to 1 hour drive from the nations 2nd largest intl. airport -Economy is booming around the area, plenty of work Cons: -Traffic nightmare around rush hour (morning and afternoon) -Limited retail nearby -Limited activities nearby -Snobby people moving in and showing off their leased BMW This zone has its pros and cons however if you want the big city felling this area isn't for you unless you feel like driving an hour. Most of the area's highways are becoming more and more crowded, but still not as bad as SoCal and New York, ect. Most of North Texas is filled with honest, hard-working people. There are still plenty of illegals but this is Texas. Overall the surrounding communities of The Colony, and Frisco have plenty of retail shopping, especially Frisco. If that does not satisfy you then you have many large shopping malls within 30 minutes drive. Overall its a great place to live you may have to get used to the traffic problems for such a small town however those will get better when they increase the road capacity by %300 to meet the current demands.[read more...]
