hello everyone, we will be arriving in dugway on the 14th of jan. 2009. my husband is a bio med tech federal employee. so if you can give me any info on the area i would love it. our house is on west 2nd ave dugway. we are in our late 40's. we both love camping. i need to find a gym to work my lower back out. i had back surgery last year and gained way to much weight AGHH.. I like Dugway. It is a quiet peaceful place to be and the Army does a nice job of trying ot provide facilities and activities to keep people busy during their down time. Especially the teenagers. But if you want to live here, you have to work here, and military personnel get first dibs follwed by government employees then contractors. Dugway has a gas station, schools, a 9 hole golf course, bowling alley, a community club, a Subway (eat fresh!) and other facilities. Rent is very reasonable and the Army has a crew who does maintenence upon request. I do not particularly like the school distrcit here (Tooele County). Dugway is the biggest employer in the county yet a lot of their funds are shifted to Tooele City and Tooele Valley while many of the outlying schools, Dugway being one of them, get neglected. I understand the population base is centered in Tooele Valley but there are enough kids who go to school here where some additional funds could go to help with better repairs and renovations. When the PTA has to get a group together to paint the elementary school hallways before the start of school, there is a problem.[read more...]
