Great place to raise kids - 10/3/2008

The Village of Merton is a great place to raise a family. Most kids can walk from their homes to the outstanding elementary and middle schools. The regional high school (Arrowhead) has long been a powerhouse for academics and sports (e.g., football, swimming, etc.), and has more recently made a name for itself in the arts as evidenced by its production of "Cats" being named the top high school musical in the nation. Crime is practically non-existent. People take care of their houses and yards, and don't litter the streets or put graffiti on anything. The park system was recently expanded to include top-notch softball fields and concession stands, it has hiking trails passing through the woods along the Mill Pond and Bark River, and its at one end of the Bugline recreational trail.
