Not for me. - 8/2/2006

West Allis is very blue collar, just like Milwaukee. The schools are fine but there is a "me" mentality that is omnipresent. People don't bother to follow the traffic laws, but very liberal with the horn if you actually do. West Allis is very segregated and does not have much culture unless your into car racing, pit bulls or beer guzzling.[read more...]

Not a bad city - 6/5/2006

Good points: Low violent crime rate, good schools, relatively affordable housing compared to much of Milwaukee metro area, very centrally located in Milwaukee county. Doesn't take long to get anywhere: downtown Milwaukee, lakefront, airport, etc. Bad points: Very high property taxes (in all of Milwaukee county), weather isn't for everyone (cold, overcast, somewhat snowy winters, and summer can be humid), somewhat congested on older east side of city due to many duplexes, and increasing crime (mostly property crime) brought to us by some of the lovely residents of Milwaukee city which is quite close. Milwaukee is the anchor city in this county, and is very corrupt, bad schools, and high crime. West Allis and most of the Milwaukee suburbs are pretty good, but there is some negative influence creeping in from city of Milwaukee.[read more...]
