I remember when I mentioned relocating to South Ca - 6/26/2011

5 good reason to bypass South Carolina 1. They dont believe in education 2. They hate women 3. They have no industry 4. If you live above the mason dixon line, you must be related to Sherman 5 Even the coast, though pretty is backward and problems like rape domestic violence, date rape drugs being administered in Grand Strand bars, major problems in the hotels with violence and theft..dont bother.[read more...]

Autistic Adult - 12/3/2010

In 5 years my daughter will be 21 years old. She is autistic. I want to move to South Carolina from New Jersey. I will pick the city based on what it has to offer my daughter in the way of a day program. She will need to have a day program to go to or have a job. Does anyone know of a city that has programs for disabled adults? Also, I am a chef and would like to open a small cafe/deli. Do you think the people of South Carolina would like authentic Italian food??? Or am I barking up the wrong tree.. I would love some feedback. Thanks..Lisa[read more...]

North Charleston, SC - 7/7/2010

North Charleston South Carolina is a very nice city. I live off of Rivers Avenue, close to everything. These are a few places that are within 20 miles; Downtown Charleston, West Ashley, Mt. Pleasant, James Island, Johns Island, Summerville, and that is just to name a few. There are things to do alone and with family & friends such as; Whirlin' Waters, Splash Zone/Island, SC Aquarium, Northwoods Mall, shoppong outlets, beaches, and so much more. I know I am giving the highlights of North Charleston, but I am looking for something different. I am not sure but I know this is not the place. The people are nice, there is a lot to do, even sight see. [read more...]

Myrtle Beach, SC
General Information - 3/28/2010

Although the climate here is great and the beach definitely a plus, unless you are a retiree, entrepenur, or transferred here with a large company I would not advise moving here. The unemployment rate is through the roof and there is little hope for recoverey anytime soon. Everyone you meet is from somewhere else...very few locals will welcome a "yankee". But the people you meet form elsewhere are great and everyone has a story. The best time of year for us who live here is March-May and the October-December. It is quiet and the weather is fabulous. If you have the money it is a really nice palce to live if can tolerate a "tourist town". [read more...]

A very red city in a very red state - 2/4/2010

I am a far left liberal. I've lived here for almost 40 years and I have only 2 friends. So keep that in mind when I tell you that South Carolina is as far right as any state in the union. Race, religion, science, national defense, the arts ... you name it and South Carolina is stuck in the 1960s. South Carolina used changed from Democrats to Republicans in late 50s when the Democratic part championed desegregation. That’s when the state went solid red. That should tell you a lot about politics in South Carolina. [read more...]

The Bipolar State - 9/29/2009

South Carolina is beautiful. It is historical, has wonderful picturesque scenes of everything you could ever imagine, from beaches, to swamps, to mountains. Unfortunately the climate can only be described as bipolar. It is humid and muggy, so much so you can barely swim through the air one day, and the next it is chilly and you need a spring jacket. We miss out on entire seasons (usually winter) and you never really know what to pack away and what should stay in your closet.[read more...]
