Hey , My wife and I have been in NC for about 13 years, 5 kids through school, compared to where we came from the schools are much more conservative. Gastonia is where we are moving to as well. We are currently 20 miles west of Gastonia. There are several good private schools and the public schools are near Cramerton, Riverwood, forest Brook, all are good for housing etc. Our son and his wife live in Brooklyn, the cost of living here will be much less, taxes are low, alot of house for the money. I really don't like Gastonia at all. It's very trashed with very illiterate people, and I don't really think you would want to raise your son in a place like this. I suggest Elizabeth City, NC. My grandmother and Grandfather lives in Elizabeth City, which is right on the water, and I absolutley love it. It is about 13,000 people there, and its so historic. You are right on the water, and about an hour away from the highly-acclaimed vacation spot, Outer Banks Beach. Your an hour from Virginia, huuuge shopping opportunites. Don't know much about the music things there, but I am sure that you will find what you are looking for. Hope that helps!! -Clara
