Review of Blue Rid,

Beautiful Vacation or Retirement area
Star Rating - 11/9/2009
Blue Ridge is nestled in the mountains and has a lovely downtown area for those who love to shop. Watercraft and tubing is all here. Fun area with lots of festivals all within an hour ride. Schools are great as it offers 1 teacher to about 16 students! If your tired of City life and high taxes and high cost of living. Well you may just love the fact that your not taxed out of your home and the cost of living is less than the average! I built a beautiful 3 story home on the side of the mountain for under $300k! All new the builder was great and honest!!! People are pleasant and friendly this is a wonderful town for visiting on a nice vacation anytime of year! I love it as our retirement home area.Blue Ridge had me moving after visiting the area. GOOD BYE TO SOUTH FLORIDA!

Ive lived in the Atlanta metro area for 30 years, and Ive always loved the mountain recreational life in north Georgia. Ive spent a lot of time on the eastern side, and it never measured up to Blue Ridge. Everyone is open and friendly. I've yet to meet anyone who isn't (knock on wood). So, as we are approaching retirement age, we bit the bullet and bought several acres in Fannin County. If you want to live in Mayberry, this is the place. It is conservative, and folks here have old fashioned values and ideas, just like my my small-town parents and grandparents had. That is how I was raised, and it feels like home. People lift a finger on the steering wheel when you drive by, just like in a small town. There isnt the crowding, mentality and crime that comes with cities where people are crammed like rats in a cage. It's yes ma'am, no sir, thank you kindly, and please. Crime is low and contentment is high. If you are bored, you don't automatically go shopping...you go hiking, or canoeing, or fishing in a trophy trout stream. You stop and chat with the neighbors at the corner store. There are plenty of churches and old-time values. The air is cleaner, the folks are respectful, the mountains are covered with trees, and the creeks and rivers run clear. You expect to see Aunt Bea, Andy, Opie or Barney at any moment. Everyone knows everyone and their momma an-em. It is unspoiled and that is the beauty of it. It is a far cry from Atlanta. And THAT is why we moved here.
