Review of Villa Pa,

Affluent But...
Star Rating - 12/15/2015
Villa Park, CA is a beautiful area with most of the homes on 1/2 acre lots. In Southern California, a half acre ios huge! Large homes with large (3-4 car) garages.
Villa Park is only 3 square miles and is a bedroom community with one small shopping center with groceries, salon, dry cleaners, restaurant, and a few other businesses. There are a few different areas that vary in "mood". We life in the Serrano Heights area. No street lights, quiet with very little activity. Most of our immediate neighbors are either retired or close. The area is turning over and families with school aged children are moving in. Which brings up the schools.
Schools - My experience with the public schools was anything but positive. Villa Park is part of the OUSD. The schools in Villa Park (2 elementary, 1 middle, and 1 high school) serve the kids in Villa Park and Orange. The socio-economic mix is the widest possible. There are some great teachers but with too much work and little support from the administration. As I said, my experience was not good. I have twin boys - one with some disabilities. The district does not follow the federal laws regarding equal education and it's difficult to fight unless you can afford to hire an advocate.

Politics - Villa Park is very conservative. If you are a liberal, keep it to yourself. I am a liberal and met only one other liberal family in Villa Park in the 12 years that I have lived here.

Climate - Villa Park can get pretty hot in the summer and fall. The hot desert air comes up the 91 freeway and blows through. The hot days are not unbearable as most homes have pools.

Generally a beautiful friendly area to live. It's freeway close as well as close to Jamboree if the freeways are jammed. A great place to live.
