Interview in Union City, GA

I drove to Kennesaw from Orlando for an interview and was pleasantly surprised that the traffic from Atlanta to Kennesaw was not that bad during rush hour traffic. I am wondering if its the same to Union City.
I Dont think that I want to live in Union City or the surrounding towns. If I moved to the Midtown area will the commute kill me?
Also, I'd like to keep my commute as low as possible. Any suggestions on where to live would be great. Also, alternative routes besides the highway?
