Reviews of Idaho

Star Rating 8/10/2009
Here you go:

First - The "grown in Idaho" which are few... don't like "outsiders". They fail to realize that outsiders have brought jobs and wealth to many. (Farmers sold land for millions...to developers.) Idaho has a cyclical economy. Unemployment is typically stable except in Gem county. What the State fights to do (bring in jobs) the "grown in Idaho" criticize. Jobs require some to come from out of state.

Second - Eagle is a beautiful place to live. I would hope that it is because of the "grown in Idaho" influence. The small town atmosphere and I see no race issues (in this area...not all of Idaho). I also hope that Eagle is maintained in the way it was intended. Those that vote and have a say need to say if they don't like it and influence others not to change. (Not use horrible language and act out against "outsiders".)

Open minds do exist here. No one should be drunk driving...pay for a taxi it isn't that much when you consider saving a life costs more ($30 to downtown BTW). LDS exists in all areas. Don't be so personal.

Travel with your children. Outside of Idaho...this goes for the "grown in Idaho" as well as for those that seek "diversity". I have lived in all areas and I always want better... That is typical for my generation. My view won't change if I move. I'll still want better for Idaho, for Eagle, for California, for all areas I love.

To those that are "grown in Idaho"...what if we all took our kids out of daycare, stopped eating at the new restaurants, stopped buying local, and stopped using your services or your business. Would we be missed? If not, let me know where you work and I will gladly stop interrupting your life. In fact, put the stickers back up that say we aren't welcome. I'll make sure I look for them.

Take care... Trader Joe's would be nice. However, it is also nice to support our neighbors.

First of all it's not the outsiders that are loathed here, its the Commie, Liberal, Obamaprompters that bring their attitudes to a conservative state. Second, stay in Cali if you want growth ect, ect.it's worked so great there huh Arnold!! I happen to still work in California and commute by air 3 times a month, that's how bad we wanted to get out of that Liberal cesspool. Want Trader Joe's? Go find one elsewhere. I want better for this state too. As for Kalifornia? it's a write off! We researched different states for 10 years and chose Idaho. I can't wait to take my 90% retirement and 100% paid medical and wait for the coming revolution. Don't try fleeing here when the lights go out! Your'e not welcome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sorry Michael- wrong again. As a firemedic for 20+ years, I don't do drugs OR own a truck. Talk about typos! Cali schools used to be great when I attended, sadly not anymore. No we aren't hypocrites, we just wanted to move back to the good old USA. I guess we aren't as sophisticated as you in Lafayette. No you can't get the same retirement here as Cali. 60% max is about all my son will get from Boise FD. So what, you can still buy a new house for 120K. Stay in Lafayette with your tofu and BMW and don't come here.

Magnum, You have to travel to a liberal state to make ends meet financially, but you don't see the link between conservative economic policy and a local economy that does not support your desired lifestyle? You do understand those retirement and insurance plans you are counting on, whether they are union or state were won by labor movements grounded in very liberal socialist ideals? But I have to ask if CA is your economic John, what does that make you when you ignore your ideologies and bend over that mailbox to pick up that check?

Meh. Who cares if the Idaho natives don't like those of us who chose their state out of 49 other states to move to and settle down in. If they don't like it, they can either shut up and get over it or move out and be the outsiders themselves in another state. I, for one, would rather associate with the kindly, hospitable, and friendly folk found all over Idaho. My family and I moved here because we have both strong traditional values and a tight-knit family here. Just because you lived your entire life somewhere doesn't give you the right to be a jackass about it. I lived in Oregon my entire life until mid-2010, and the only complaint I had was the thoughtless tourists and Californians who had no respect for our culture or history; just what they could exploit for their own gain. I love Idaho because it's everything Oregon used to be back in my grandfather's day. I grew up around hunters, fishermen, outdoorsmen, musicians, those who put their bodies and minds through the ringer their entire lives and those who were geniuses in their favorite subject, and odd yet honest people my entire life. I'm happy to know that Idaho has people just like that wherever you go. It's a peaceful, responsible, traditional state that I'm proud to call home and raise my family in. I aim to make my living with computers, and if that bothers some of you, I honestly don't give a damn.

Gee Magnum, you must have attended one of those commie public schools since you can't spell (public education is a socialist idea so I hope you are sending your spawn to private school). Or maybe you can spell and these are just typos because you had too much meth, or you were trying to type while driving your monster truck. Anyway, why do you still work in California? Don't like the serf wages in the "conservative" state? Or maybe you can't get 90% retirement and 100% paid medical in a "conservative" state. To continue to work in California, while comlaining about it, makes you a hypocrite.
