Review of Knoxville Tennes,

Impressed after a visit
Star Rating - 4/21/2016
We visited last month after receiving a job offer. We live in Gainesville Fl now and we love it here, but the job opportunity makes it worthwhile to consider moving. Knoxville struck me as what Gainesville might be like in 30 years: a bigger city with an excellent University and a highly educated, diverse culture. The restaurants were excellent, the people were very welcoming, and the apartments and houses that we checked out were all very reasonably priced. Definitely considering the move!

Oh, please, reconsider! We have been here 10 years and have come to despise this place. It is so beautiful, cost efficient, and there are an incredible number of outdoor activities to choose from, BUT the people here are hateful, ignorant, and are very hostile to anyone moving into the area. They might be educated in a particular field, but they have no social/interpersonal/hospitable/... intelligence. We find they are generally lazy (good luck trying to find someone to help in the yard, show up on time, and do what you ask), dishonest (they lie at every turn, especially if under pressure, they say they will call you, but it never happens...), and they are terrible drivers. Even on country roads, with no way to pass, and you are already 10 mph over the speed limit, they will ride your bumper at 5 or 10 feet. I'm astonished that such a beautiful place, can be inhabited to such a detestable, deplorable, and dishonest class of people. My wife, young girls can wait to get the heck out of here! If you are not convinced, do you want to buy a dream-home on the lake??

DO NOT MOVE TO KNOXVILLE! I have lived here 22 years & while the people here have manners & will smile and say "Hi" you WILL NOT make friends here! My 21 y.o. daughter has 1 friend and she was born here. If you like bible thumping, clannish, narrow minded rednecks you will probably luv it here. I have started meetup groups, dating venues, volunteering, etc. and the people I have met have no interest in developing friendships. My neighborhood is full of hillbillies who think shooting at trees & cans is fun. The only good thing I can say about this assinine town is the cost of living is cheap. Oh, yea I forgot to mention that this town has more churches than ANY city of this size!
