Review of Irvine, California

The Melted Pot?
Star Rating - 9/9/2017
Full of angry, old, middle age, white people and slowly being taken over by rich Asians. Also crime is increasing due to the poor Black and Mexican gangbangers and criminals who drive up from Compton and try to break into peoples house and steal packages off their porches. Used to be a kind of nice place to live - fifty years ago. Then again, that's all of California for you. That's basically it.

Really? 50 years back? Irvine was incorporated in 1971. Btw, 50 years is such a long time it CANNOT be a bench mark to compare living standards. Thank god no one is saying life has changed so much in 1000 years. Irvine is simply awesome despite some inconveniences like traffic,

I gotta say, the original comment and the responding comment (whom, by the way, is someone from SPRING VALLEY, NEVADA commenting about living conditions in IRVINE, CALIFORNIA) are not just extremely concerning but in general a reflection of American's anti-immigrant, xenophobic ideologies that in general are ruining this entire country not just Irvine or any specific place. The fact that you have people thinking its okay to call people "slant eye asian" and "Mexicans are bad, no doubt about it" while talking about nonsense of "beating Asians up in the next war" when its a simple discussion of what its like to live in Irvine shows that a lot of people living in America are starting to become increasingly overburdened/tired/fearful of the large influx of differing cultures and values that are being brought into the country, one which we use to be the most proud of. Nonetheless, to accurately respond to the original comment: I live in Irvine, have lived here since 2007. Living expense here is really high, since its obviously a pretty affluent city. It is true that the city is mostly/predominantly Asians; lots of Asian restaurants, stores, etc. However, it is a very safe place; Irvine PD keeps crime rate extremely low, and they respond very fast to most/any calls. Most of the time I see them around handing out tickets/stopping people for petty traffic violations, which gets to my next point: it is true that drivers here are pretty horrible. It is also true that lately we've been having crime from Santa Ana region leaking over to Irvine, however I must also add that cops in Irvine have been known to pick up homeless people in the city of Irvine and then "relocating" them (basically just dumping them) off at Santa Ana. Whether these people were originally from Santa Ana I have no clue, but from what I've heard it seems like Irvine in way tries to keep its increasing affluent city the way it is by relocating those obviously poor individuals to nearby cities that are worst off like Santa Ana. Irvine overall is a great place, there aren't as many "Asian smokers" "angry middle age white people" or "poor Black/Mexican gangbangers"; its all really exaggerated, although it does have a grain of truth. Irvine is known as one of the safest city for a reason after all~
