Review of Pueblo, Colorado

Education
Star Rating - 12/4/2015
I live in Pueblo West which is a suburb of Pueblo. I love our schools! Cedar Ridge, Connect and Pueblo West High School are the schools my boys have attended. I love the clean air, cool nights, big sky country. I can see the Milky Way as I take one step out my front door and reasonable cost of living to raise a family here. I love the school my kids went to and one still goes to, and that I teach at-Pueblo West High School. Everything from strong academics-both AP and IB are offered here- to strong extracurriculars. We have the typical clubs such as Speech and Debate, Mock Trial, Youth in Government, FBLA, Knowledge Bowl, DECA, Chess Club, Cooking Club, MECHA, Drama Club, Interact Club, Mountain Biking Club, Key Club, Broadcast Journalism, Future Teachers, Yearbook, Newspaper, Student Council. Additionally we offer terrific choir, band, jazz band and drama offerings in our brand new state of the art auditorium where we have had productions such as Our Town and Oklahoma, Alice in Wonderland and White Christmas this year. We have excellent athletics programs, State Champion football and softball programs as well as state qualifying teams in Cross Country, Track, Baseball, Basketball, Wrestling, Tennis, Soccer. Each student has a Macbook Air laptop computer. We are certainly benefitting from a school that offers the complete high school experience as well as access to college courses and associate degrees with an agreement through CSU-Pueblo and Pueblo Community College. Additionally we offer concurrent enrollment for college credit in courses such as Anatomy and Physiology, English, US and World History and Political Science for classes taught within the high school. Our students include National Merit winners, Boettcher, Daniels, Hurliman, Monfort and Coca Cola Scholars. Go Cyclones!
