Star Rating - 5/28/2006
Moses Lake may be a great place to retire but it is a lousy place to grow up. There is very little for kids to do, less for young adults {hence the meth and other drug problems. There is a movie theater, aquatic center, batting cages {multiple park with baseball fields... hippy yay :-( } an ice skating rink for winter use and that about sums it up. If you are an adult you can hand out at one of the many bars or taverns or waste your money away at one of the two casinos.

The schools are newly remodeled but the problems still remain... teachers that are there for a paycheck and lord forbid that they step outside of the box and actually teach and take the time to realize that no one child is the same. I've been through the school system here. I am very disappointed and I absolutely will not allow my children to be exposed to such one-sided piss-poor pseudo-teachers that lack creativity, ingenuity and intelligence {looking in the back of the book for the answers IS NOT TEACHING!}. I know of teachers who have tried to make a difference by genuinely caring about the education of children. Their mouths and hands were bound by the scared unknowledgeable less fruitcake administration and eventually pushed out... so we are back to square one.

The lake is green and slimy, the people are nice {as long as you have money in your pocket or are of the Mormon faith {I have know people who were denied the opportunity to buy a certain house because they were not Mormon}, and the career opportunities are minimal not to mention that we have one of the most useless "The Good-Ol-Boys" police departments in the state. If you have an actual problem... don't count on them.

If you want to take in any real cultural activities {and no I don't mean tractor races and cow-tipping} you have to drive at least an hour and a half any direction to see a real play, symphony or concert.

Potential businesses are pushed away for fear of growth and the unknown. Yet we have a new church build about every 2 years.

That concludes my opinion at this time 100% honest. I've lived here all my life and cannot wait to get of Moses Hole.

Don't let the door hit you on the way out of town. Sounds like you should have left a LONG time ago. What are you doing to be part of the solution (vs. just whining) to your long list of complaints?
