Hemet used to be a nice place to live an raise a family. Sadly there has been a drastic downward turn for this city over the past few years. Hemet High School is still a great school and the east side of town is older and better established. However, there are well over 100 registered sex offenders in the 92544 area code alone. Shootings and stabbings are a weekly happening around town and I've only seen them increase because I work in town as a paramedic. The economy here only makes that all worse. Me an my family will be moving out of here as soon as we can afford to...

I am looking to a rental home to rent in Inland Empire as of right now prices seem be very reasonable. Would you investing in Hemet in terms of safety, and rental market there. Also looking at Victorville and Adelanto areas much newer and cheaper homes there as well. Please advise on Hemet, If not a good place, can you recommend other cities nearby that are not too expensive to buy. I know Menifee is kind of expensive to buy and rent out. Thanks

That's a tough question. The Inland Empire does have really cheap housing right now. However, as is true with most places, if you want a nicer/safer place to live than you will have to "pay" for it. I started doing some research on why there were so many sex offenders in this area. It turns out, once a person commits a sex crime (anything from child molestation to rape) they have to live at least 80 miles or more away from the area where they committed their crime once they are released from prison or, in many cases, sentenced without prison time (gotta love California's judicial system). So where does that put all the rapists and sex offenders from Los Angeles?...bingo! Hemet and the Inland Empire. Cheap/affordable housing, hot/dry weather, it's a sex offenders dream home! Scary thought to know that many of your neighbors have committed such horrible crimes. Anyways, to answer your question... Victorville and the high desert is a better place. If you can afford it, Temecula and Murietta are very safe. I hope that helps point you in a good direction. As for me and my family, hopefully you can find me in a different state 5-10 years down the road.
