Review of Sherwood, Oregon

Water quality
Star Rating - 5/13/2007
Sherwood city council has started a huge water project to support an anticipated growth from 16000 to 30000; they will use the water from a treatment plant on the Willamette River.
The Willamette River is one of the most polluted rivers in the west, with numerous studies showing the presence of pesticides, endocrine disruptors and other trace toxins. The Sierra Club and others have introduced a state law, SB 737 to stop Oregon polluters from dumping into rivers using the Toxic Mixing Zone Loopholes.
All EPA standards for drinking water shows Willamette water is safe but the soup of numerous alarming toxins that is present in the river sediment bed, according to a recent article in the Oregonian, is causing concern.
