I am an educated African American woman with 10 years of experience in the judicial field and I am also an attorney. I have applied for jobs that I am 100% certain that I qualified for. For some reason I have not gotten so much as an interview in the two years that I have lived in this city. I have been told that my name is "ethnic" and that it can be used to screen me out of selection. It has also been suggested that I use my middle name, which is a "mainstream" name. I have been told these things by individuals who were Caucasian and individuals who were African American. I have never experienced anything like this in my life.
