I was shocked to read some of these reviews.. I moved to South Ft Myers from Maryland and couldn't be happier. Friendly people, shopping, designer outlets, fine dining, breathtaking sunsets and white sand beaches with clear blue water.. All within a 10 mile radious of my home. What more could you ask for? It's a laid back area.. As for crime, there's a little bad everywhere. South FM is very quit, alot of gated communities. Homes in the mid 200s and up. Guess the bad areas are north of here. I love it..Just my thoughts.

So glad I came across your post, I was having 2nd thoughts about my transfer until I read what you wrote. I'm transferring from Pgh PA to Ft Myers 10/15/12 & will be working at the Post Office on Jetport Loop. I'm not sure what the driving distance from Sanibel or Bonita Springs is but I will definitely take your advice & check it out.All the negative posts were making me think I might have made a mistake.. Kristy-moving from Maryland to Fort Myers in 15 months. I was glad to see this message because the only reviews I saw have been really bad. We plan on renting first just to make sure we are doing the right move, but all in all we are on our way! Thank you for the direction-

We are moving to the Ft Myers area in Nov. 2013 from PA. We are looking to rent until we decide where we would like to purchase a home. Any recommendations on places to rent? We have 2 yorkie poos, so we need a pet welcome bldg. Looking for a safe neighborhood. thanks :)
