That is false about us having the highest the biggest meth problem in the country, HA way off pal. Our downtown is beautiful, especially with all the renovations. Grey's Lake is a beautiful place to walk anytime of year. And despite the reputations of the north, east, and south sides... it's all a bunch of rumors. Yes, there are problems... every older city will have them. But there are a lot of nice neighborhoods, I lived there for 20 years and I'm moving back in August, I like it there and I think that jame's opinion is definitely opinion... his facts are way off.
Oh not to mention the newer ice skating rink for winter downtown... bigger than the one in Time Square, just adds to the individual/beautiful look of our downtown.
Des Moines isn't big, but it's got personality and a heritage to be proud of, and to stand up for against all the false things said about it. And yes, there are a lot of Christians but I wouldn't call them ignorant self-righteous.
