Review of San Jose, California

I am still in shocked with the high ratings of San

I grew up in san jose most of my life for over 20 years. Many women around me end up with cancer and both of my parents died before turning 60. This place is extremely polluted with water contamination run off from high tech companies. I remember the first day I drove out of the city and within 2 days my skin cleared up from all skin rashes and bumps. That's how dirty and contaminated the air and water pollution is. I moved away north of california for cooler cleaner air, water, and weather and to the mid US states just to see what it's like. By comparison, San Jose is over priced with the housing $300 for an old broken down home! you can get so much more for your money for only half the price of san jose. People in san jose are into themselves. It's an unfriendly place. Crime is serious here even around the Evergreen area new homes. Most homes have metal bars on their doors and windows. Half of my relatives have had home invasion robbery when they go on vacation. Both me and my spouse had drive by shooting in the Evergreen and Berryessa area. The schools are rated the lowest according to Great Schools. Just like every other day, there would be helicopter over our heads. Not sure what or who they are searching for...gang? drugs? who knows. Even though they force people to license their pets, I still see un neutered pitbulls roaming the street and could hurt little children. The weather is a bit too hot for my taste. Its a boring city with little entertainment or interesting things to do like SF or more north up california. We've been hit and run many times, not just once. A guy would side swipe us and just drove off without ever looking back. The drivers are insane. They often have "spare the air" days because the pollution is just so bad, many people become asthmatic. All of my health conditions went away after we moved out of San jose Bay area. The Marin county has the highest rate of breast cancer in the WORLD ! not just the US or the State. Not sure if it's the cost of living or something but people around san jose are very very money hungry. We've lived in the mid states and we can leave our shoes , cars, toys outdoor and nothing get stolen. If you live in san jose, they will steal everything! you would think such a wealthy area people don't rob but it's not true. Most women walk around with breast implants. People are really really fake and materialistic in a bad way. While the schools do not care about children. They constantly ask us for help to pay for papers, donation, soaps, tissues, etc. I wonder what happens to all the taxes they collected from all the wealthy high tech workers? Homeless people are every where, but I think that situation is common up and down california. Just about every other person is on some kind of anti depressant. I personally experienced a drive by shooting when I was in high school . The guy killed off several kids from our school. The positive things about san jose might be the weather. However, compared to the rest of the cities in this area, I don't think san jose is as cool as salinas, monterey santa cruz, etc. They have one discovery museum for kids which is very very tiny compared to the ones in other states we've been to. parking fees are crazy like $10. I remember living in the mid states, toysrus would leave their full set of thomas trains out for the children to play and no one would steal the toys. In san jose, no store is stupid enough to leave a thomas train set out. All the toys would be gone in a day if the merchants leave their merchandise out. People will steal everything even old shoes. totally creepy. Horrible community. Totally over priced, high crime, poor education, violent, crazy drivers, polluted, and unhealthy. Yes there are other good things such as diversity. San jose got many good foods and various ethnic groups such has hispanics and vietnamese population. 30% Asian and a ton of Hispanics. But there are diversity every where up and down california not just san jose. the homes are like boxes. you can literally jump from one roof to the next.

Your knowledge of culture in San Jose is completely lacking. Your comparison to other local cities leaves out other statistics i.e. Santa Cruz has a very bad crime rate. Comparisons based on the past in other cities to today in a SECTION of the huge city of San Jose, are extremely subjective. It's too bad that your family has had health issues, but, again, the ratio is not bad at all when compared to cities like Marin.
