I moved in with my Dad here in Buford from near Midway Airport. The first thing I noticed is that the area is difficult to navigate with so many curving streets. I used to say "In Chicago, the streets are laid out in a grid the way God intended!" After living here a while and searching for a job, I found two. While driving from one job to another, I got pulled over and arrested. Not because I shot someone or stole a car, but because I was driving without insurance. Soon after that, my car was impounded for the same reason. I never got it back. Too expensive. On the upside, I'm a member of the Buford Family Seventh Day Adventist Church, and the people there are very friendly. Various members there have helped me out in a number of ways that went far beyond greeting me at church. If you're hungry in Buford, you have plenty of options. From burgers to salad to steak, it's all here, and don't forget Cracker Barrel. Weather-wise, it's hot in the summer and cold in the winter, but snowfall is rare and when it happens, people FREAK OUT. When news of a coming snowstorm was reported, people lined up at Publix to buy staples and beer. Lots of beer. The people here in Buford are more friendly than in Chicago, but that doesn't mean a stranger will help you with a flat tire. It's also relatively safe, with a low crime rate.
