Population Misleading and quality of life

The population listed is somewhat inaccurate, as it includes 11,000 inmates from the two state prisons on edge of town. As for quality of life in Susanville, I live here and enjoy it,though the pace of life is slow.

Jon: how does the inmate population and the presence of prisons affect the town (did not see the tv show or special on that one)I mean, there aren't break outs, right? still a quiet town? I would only live 5 mos of the year not far from Eagle Lake 20 miles north of Susanville if at all...land isn't mine yet. Pam as WordFlowers

moved here from San Diego area over a year ago and love it. Beautiful country, ranching community. Quiet and serene. Other employers beside the prison system are the Indian Casino, Lassen Community College and Banner Lassen Medical Center. Town boasts a symphony with a regular concert season.

Pam G, its all the wonderful families of the inmates that move here, that turn a prison town to crap, little thug kids, growing up here. Spent 20 + years in susanville. Just my opinion I guess, but based on personal experience and observation. Not to say ALL inmates fams are bad, but it has changed the makeup of the town.
