Review of Lancaster, California

Horrible place to live
Star Rating - 11/24/2010
This is one of the worst places to live EVER. I lived here for 20 years of my life (grew up there for the first 17, then unfortunately went back when I got out of the military). It has just become a big dump. Gang bangers (wanna be or not, my mom has gotten robbed multiple times), drugs, low class, low morals....

Stay away. Pay the extra money to live somewhere else if you can or get out of California where it's even cheaper to live. Lancaster and Palmdale are a Sh!t holes.

I agree with Eric. I love the Lancaster. A lot does depend where you live. I live in a nice neighborhood that is clean, quiet, on the foothills of the Antelope Valley. The police and fire departments patrol regularly. The cost of living is great. You can get a large beautiful quality home for less than half the price of congested Los Angeles. And the air is cleaner. It's especially nice if you have a great here in the Antelope Valley. But even if you have to commute, you still can do well with all the money you save on housing. You can live comfortable for life here in the Antelope Valley.

I almost totally agree with Eric. I love the Lancaster. A lot does depend where you live. All cities have their good and bad. And as they grow, both good and bad are magnified. Here on the west side it is nicer, but it is more than race as Eric mentioned. The east and west side are separated socioeconomically even more than race. As a black man I notice a little older more established demographic of all races live on the west side.

I'll just say this... I've lived in this place for almost my entire life and I have not encountered one, single, thing you've mentioned. There recently have been fires polluting up the place, but I haven't seen anything else you've mentioned. Maybe you just have bad luck or lived on the east side of the city. The west side is great! Low crime rate, best of all. Our city seems to be divided by the center street, Division. Races are separated by this street. Anyway, I don't ever plan to move away from here.
