Review of Exc,

Living in Excel
Star Rating - 4/9/2009
My Great Grandfather , Calvin James Rhodes was the second citizen to homestead land in Excel in or around 1892--He built his home there which is still standing in excellent condition--I grew up in Excel--born in 1938--The people generally are hardworking decent people--Farming is still a major occupation--My place consist of 40 acres of pasture land--My place is listed in the Alabama Register of Historic Places--The land is fertile and flowers, trees and bushes grow very well in my yard--The place came from Calvin James Rhodes to Jesse and Mary Shumack in 1932 and to Colonial Scott(Dutch) Shumack in 1950 and to Max and Sherrie Shumack in 2003--We do not live there full time but travel there often and take care of the place--Excel School is considered to be the best in Monroe County and the Excel School District is desired
