I have found the cost of living here is above the national average. Lots of nice restaurants, good shopping, pretty beaches but it's getting more & more populated with more & more rules. It is not a typical southern city since the largest amount of people here have relocated from the NE part of the country & have brought their politics, ideas & rude demeanor with them. Alot of forgeiners live in the area & I would suggest knowing how to speak Spanish a good idea. So if you like the NE type of busy busy along with the hispanic culture & just a little bit of the slow south it may be for you. The summers are brutally hot & humid & long but the winters are mild & very pleasant. We do get about 350 days of sunshine a day!! Hurricane season is a concern every year & the insurance companies have found a way to raise the rates because of them. Long story short, it can be an expensive place to live.
