Review of Clovis, New Mexico

Negative comments make me depressed!
Star Rating - 2/22/2008
I love this web site, but it saddens me to hear so many terrible things about our beautiful Country! Is there anyone out there who can shine a little "light" on these dark and depressing stories?

You should visit Clovis and you will know what we are talking about. I lived on the east and west coasts. You live in a BEAUTIFUL state! There are no hills, rivers, creeks, forests, or anything but cow fields here. Is that your idea of beauty? I only agreed to come here so my wife could take care of her parents. Her mother is deceased now and we are looking to get out!!! The medical care and air quality is extremely POOR! Your "light" can come from the beautiful Shenandoah and Blue Ridge Mountains whose beauty is so missed in this awful part of the country. Trainmaster

OK, so eastern New Mexico is a high desert. Greenery is only available when you vclimb a mountain, siuch as the Sacramentos near Ruidoso. That will cure any homesick tendancies. If you hate Clovis, live in Portales which is much cleaner, safer, and has the more educated university crowd. Lubbock, Texas offers lots of green parks and golfing about 90 minutes to the west. All is not as bad as is written here, especially watching the sunset from Oasis State Park!

I lived in Portales while stationed at Cannon. Portales is even more boring than Clovis. It may be safer, but it constantly smells like cow crap or yeast from the ethanol factory or whatever that plant is over by the "hospital". If you're a single guy, Portales is better because of the university, but look out because it has an extremely high STD rate (one of the highest in the country I believe).
