Concealed weapons are allowed, property crime is high and uninsured motorists are numerous.

I have visited San Antonio many times. I lived in Dallas 15 years. I grew up in Tennessee. From my experience Texans are less racist than Tennesseans. I have seen more diversity of cultures in Texas. I have found San Antonio to be as safe as any other city in the US. Having lived in a big city I know when and where not to be during certains hours of the day (night). One must be aware of crime areas in any city, large or small.

Anyone looking to move to San Antonio and review's Pauls comments about how wonderful San Antonio is and what an educated Hispanic he is. He too is not very smart. The facts are and can be found on the US Census data, San Antonio's average family income is $47K and Farragut which is within Knoxville has an average family income of $91K. Only 78% graduate from high school and 23% from college in San Antonio. In Farragut 96% from high school and 54% graduate from college. Well over twice the college graduates in the Knoxville area and twice the pay. What a hick town as the uneducated Hispanic stated. Well, not so hick by facts. San Antonio is made up of at least 35% of illegals which actually cannot speak english. Yes, San Antonio does have a big population increase every year, but they are illegals which you fully pay for through the University Hospital where they get free medical and come to have there babies free. If you are Hispanic, then San Antonio is the place to go and you will be very happy. But if you do not speak fluent spanish and not Hispanic, you will truly be miserable. Not all the Hispanics are mean and ignorant. There are many that are American born and educated, but it is few and far between. My husband and I had to pull our guns out at least 5 times in San Antonio to save our lives. They broke into our far northside house several times and carjacked us 2 times. Going to my car at the end of a hard workday, 3 Mexicans tried to attack me and take my Mercedes and I had to pull a gun. Yes, we are both licensed and if you move to San Antonio, you better get many guns. Take a look at just this website onlone. Crime is rated a 7 on the scale of 1 to 10 with the Nation being a 3. It is really bad crime. Our parents live in Hill Country Village which is a very nice part of town and have been robbed 4 times over the past year. They are selling and moving. You can check out the crime by going to MYSA.COM and looking up all the crime on CRIMEBASE which is listed on the left side of the website towards the middle. Also, San Antonio has the highest teen pregnancy rate in the Nation. No too educated in just birth control. It is truly a pretty city and has nice shopping, but hopefully you live to see it and can afford to pay for it after the high property taxes, utilities, car and home insurance, etc. Good Luck.

My husband and I lived our entire lives in San Antonio. We moved 4/2007 to East Tennessee (Knoxville) where it is 98% white and pure Heaven. The people are so nice on the road and anywhere. We completely hate, HATE, HATE San Antonio and told our parents unless they are seriously ill or dead, we will not be back. San Antonio gives you the baddest attitude of all places. I have been to 40 states out of 50 in the US. No place is as bad as San Antonio except, Miami, New York city and downtown Chicago. Many say southern California too. Arizona changed their laws to get rid of all the illegals (SMART STATE). San Antonio is a hell hole. We owned a $600K house and paid $16K in property taxes. Here in Knoxville our taxes are $1,800, honestly. No state income tax either. In San Antonio you are paying for all the illegals and lowlife Mexicans. Sorry, but we got tired of paying. Thank you Dear Lord for another city to live. Once you move, everyone tells us in the rest of the country that that is Little Mexico and how did we get our visas to leave the country. Texas SUCKS. Good luck everyone living with all the MEXICANS. Why they do not build the fence along the Oklahoma border and give Texas and New Mexico back to the country of Mexico, I do not know. It is happening all by itself.

A Reply to Juan who sad we were racist. The problem with Mexicans is they always claim everything is racism. If they don't like what someone says, it is racism. Well, you Mexicans are the ones that are racist. We lived our entire lives in San Antonio and were treated badly and talked about in Spanish behind our backs. We decided to leave San Antonio to get away from RACISM and that was the #1 reason. If you can read the details, Texas has some issues with high property taxes that other states do not have. That too was a major issue. But us leaving had nothing to do with us being Racist. It honestly sounds that you, Juan, are again, the reason we left San Antonio. We owned many large retail stores and were treated like dogs by the Hispanics. We were discriminated against. But we don't just sit and complain, we leave and start a new life in a better place which is anywhere but San Antonio. We have at least 15 other couples from our church that left for the identical reason.

I recently visited San Antonio to attend the Alamo Bowl. On my way home from the game, I was attacked and robbed. When I got back to my hotel, I immediately called the police. They were concerned and attentive to everything I said. They took me with them to cruise up and down the block where it happened, but we never saw the culprits. I had originally planned to stay until Jan. 2, and being the person that I am, I decided not to let the mugging change that. I did have a decent time around the Riverwalk area, but I took a cab to get to and from my hotel. The bottom line is that I could never truly enjoy myself in a place where I was worried whether or not I was going to be mugged. I will never go to San Antonio again, and I would caution anyone going there to make sure to be careful.

There are American born mexicans, like myself, born and raised in this great city. Too say all mexicans are low life's is ignorant. This is a typical generalization of most uneducated white people. If you have attained some kind of higher education it surely doesn't show in your writing. Most all my family, and extended family have earned degrees. Anyhow, there are bad apples within every ethnicty. Sounds like you are doing quite well fitting in, with the backward little hick town folk of Knoxville,Tennesse. People from all over the country are moving to San Antonio. San Antonio is one of the fastest growing cities in the country. The ecomomy is one of the strongest in the country. A city that is 53% or so hispanic, has one of the best economies. HQ city for AT&T, Valero Energy (Largest oil co. in America), Clear Chanel, among other major companies. With these kind of comments you need to pray to your "Dear Lord" for forgiveness, instead of thanking him. San Antonio is a colorful vibrant city, and this is why 26 million out of towners came to visit in 2006.

The reply written by "Mad Ex Texan" you sound like you are being racist towards non-white people. Sounds like discrimination to me more than a problem with Texas the quote that states "where it is 98% white" sounded like something a racist would say.
