Review of Yuma Ariz,

Comparing YUMA as to where I’ve live elsewhere!
Star Rating - 3/13/2015
I was raised in the North east corner of KS, spent a lot time there. Till I became a teen then I just had to
get away. That’s how I ended up traveling, joining the service and experiencing the world. NE-Kansas isn’t bad it just wears me out to stick around in one place for years – and years. I’ve been to a few different county’s, been all over the USA, I’ve always seem to think I can see a little bit KS in every place I go. YUMA is just that a Kansas Town without the cold winters. Agriculture is important, it’s a who’s –who town, in other words it’s who you know will get the job, or how beer you can drink will get your promoted or more than just a second chance. That’s great if you’re in, it sux’s big time if you’re not.
The town is dominated by the Hispanic language, culture, and the who’s -who’s. You have to adapt in order to feel at home, nobody here cares about much outside of YUMA unless it’s about the West Coast.
MY Likes are – The winters are the best, The Summers from mid-May to mid Sept are unbelievable Hot , I know - know your area get big time humidity or hot , “Warning” do not compare your summer to YUMA . Yuma has a steady 4 months of 3 digits numbers up to 118 for a good 8 to 10 hrs, daily, no rain, lots of dust, dead grass, very Hot weather, at midnight it can still be 100 degrees. Bikers don’t ride, animals don’t got out, the sidewalks is 134 plus degrees, it’s too hot to swim, it drains your strength, and motivation. If you can deal with that you should fit in fine. It’s not a well-educated town being raised around Kansas University, or upbeat, not enough diversity. Everything is about Mexico, Aztec, or Spanish not saying it’s a bad thing, but you do overdose of it and when you get tired and say something in crowed of Spanish speaking people like “ Think I’ll try out that Only German restaurant in town” You hear talk just loud enough to hear the words “ Racist” yad yaddad yaada, you know. Or nobody understands English and you get ignored. Good thing is next day everyone’s back to normal. Speaking English asking why you left so early and all that. How to decide if you want to live here or not – I guess just try it. I’ve been here 11 years coming down from Flagstaff after 7 years up there. Got tired of the snow , but realize I love Flagstaff and yearn to go back or in the least fine a little bit of cooler area with a mild summer. I like AZ a lot, Yuma has offered me affordable education, change to mingle and get to the Hispanic culture facts, and Arizona has lots of history thousands of years old everywhere. It’s worth the try but I know come summer time you’ll leave, live elsewhere for 6 mos and call yourself a resident of Yuma ….lol
