Where Are The Safest Places To Live?

I'm a white, single, 26 yr old male who is relocating from Dallas/Ft. Worth,TX to Georgia in the middle of August this year. I have been looking for a safe, entertaining place to call home that has a good amount of young adults residing there. I know that Atlanta is going to be an obvious answer from many as there are tons of young adults and lots of things to do. However, I have heard and read from many that crime is can be a big concern, and traffic is unbearable.

So, my question is this: Are there any Georgia residents who can recommend ANY safe, entertaining region/city for young adults like myself outside of Atlanta?
