Review of Avon, Ohio

Climate- Overall Living Conditions
Star Rating - 8/5/2008
The weather as one might expect is a important factor no matter where you reside. Avon, situated several miles from Lake Erie misses the early snow falls usually because the lake does not freeze till later in the winter. The snow, ice and cold is usual for N.E. Ohio. What is really depressing is the lack of sunshine and dark days for long periods of time. The adjacent county of Cuyhoga has seen a mass exodus for quality of life, employment, crime and educational ( poor schools) reasons. Avon, residing in Lorain County is a small island of good shopping, relatively low crime and good schools. Property taxes as in all of Ohio are what I believe is high in comparison to property I own in AZ., CO., and UT. Taxes for my 3 Bedroom, 1 Bath Ranch worth roughly 150- 160 currently is almost $3,000. yrly. If moving to the area Avon with new and old housing, very good schools and overall decent quality of life merits investigation and consideration.
