Review of Wheeling, West Virginia

Wheeling after many years away
Star Rating - 8/14/2012
My wife and I grew up in Wheeling and left in our early 20's but have come back after 40 years. Having lived from Bangor, ME to Ft. Lauderdale, Fl we found there is no perfect place to live. Wheeling for its size has many activities going on all of the time. Music festivals, music in the parks (two of the finest parks in the country), golf courses, unbelievable shopping at the Highlands including Cabelas and many restuarants and the Ohio Valley Mall. Colleges and Universities, great hospitals and some of the least expensive housing in the country. Climate is not too bad and winters are fairly mild with little snow. Unbelievable architecture and many historic homes. If the crime rate seems a little high dont take it too serious, as a former cop I can tell you it is mostly a certain group preying on their own. Need I say more... A great place for retiring babyboomers and I am surprised they have not discovered it yet.
