The only thing that Tallahassee is missing is more cultural events and better public transportation (More often bus times, rail system). Killearn/Ox Bottom area is where the best public school zones are (though that area is also the most expensive to live in Tallahassee). There are events in Tallahassee, watch the local news as speakers present specific events, in the Tallahassee Democrat, and visit Tallahassee or event hosting websites. Every first Friday of the month there is an event at Railroad square.
