Review of Sandusky, Ohio

High Cancer rate.
Star Rating - 11/24/2009
The Sandusky area has a horrible rate of cancer in children. The area is nice, and the lakeside life style can lure you in...but if you don't want someone you care about to get cancer don't movie there. The EPA and the government in general are doing very little to solve this problem also, bummer.

Hi, we live in Vermilion, Ohio and want to raise our family in low crime and healthy area. Why are the cancer rates so high here? Is it the water system?

It more than likely is. Here in Napoleon we get warnings on the water bill not to drink the city water because it can cause cancer, So yes, i'm sure it's no different. Or something else to think about is how close it is to a nuclear power plant, which had many major accidents and close calls.

I really like Ohio and the people there, but almost everyone I grew up with in Cincinnati (cancer alley Ohio Valley) has cancer or autoimmune disease... It's so prevalent there--yuck. Of the parents of childhood friends, I can list it: brain cancer, colon cancer, diabetes, lung cancer, breast cancer, pancreatic cancer, thyroid cancer, fibromylalgia, lupus (know 2 people with this & it can kill you), thyroiditis (2 people w/ this), Epstein Barr Syndrome, chronic fatigue syndrome, etc. It makes me angry & horrified. They simply must clean OH up. Lake Erie is beautiful, but so is your health. You can still make a big mistake on the Lake!!
