Review of Murfreesboro, Tennessee

Thinking of making a big move but need help
Star Rating - 7/24/2008
I've lived all my life in Massachusetts and am growing quite tired of the snobbery and the cost of living. I have been doing research all over the U.S. so I can get me and my family out of here and I think I'm liking the Murfreesboro area. The only problem is uprooting and moving away from our family. I would love to hear about life in Murfreesboro for a family with small children. Anything you can tell me would be appreciated. You can e-mail me at jdmcconeryan@verizon.net Thanks.

Gianna and Todd I completely empathize with you!!!! I am from Bronxville, New York, Roman Catholic as well! I am absolutely miserable! Moving to Murfreesboro from the ever 'charming' Antioch, just so I can be closer to MTSU. Once I finish my degree we are GONE!!! I am married and have 2 small children, my husband is from Brentwood, TN and even though his family is nice, They might as well be from a different planet! The funny thing is they have substantial wealth and a good name, and they occasionally make the same ignorant, racist comments that I would expect to hear from someone in a double wide with no teeth and a Confederate flag T-shirt. The whole concept of "southern hospitality" is for the birds. Us New Yawkas get a horrible rap, but I think people in NY are significantly more friendly than here. It truly is a different world down here. Gianna where in NY are you origionally from?

My husband and I and our 3 children moved here 9/2006 for my husbands work. I did research as well before we came and now that we are here I hate it!! We are originally from NYC and a short time in Tampa. While here We have noticed that unfortunately Tn, Murfreesboro is very backwards!! It has been impossible to get use to, there is NO Diversity here AT ALL and we happen to be Catholic, Upper-Class Income- Italian Americans. The ways here are so very ignorant and its as we live in the early 1900's and its now "2010" We are already making plans to re-locate for GOOD!! More house for your money for home buyers is THE ONLY POSSITIVE, Sorry!! So because of that reason alone, We Are buying another home in the North-East and We will Still Own Our Home here and Rent-it-Out. We just can not live in a Close Minded City/State! Good Luck To You and to anyone looking to re-locate here!!
