True I miss my hometown. The people are just like the commenter stated. I came here, looking for more opportunities. But honestly, I`m struggling here like back home. Housing suck Majorly. Housing assistance does exist You have to move almost 50 miles aways (Clarksville or Kentucky) to find cheap housing. A lot of these places are small towns with a small town mentality and not many conviences of a major city. There are jobs, but there is high competition, and the "good ol boy" system is definitely in effect here. The traffic is bad. You have a hard time getting from place to place. The people here are opportunist, and pretentious individuals, looking for a free ride, and then discard you. (I`m not being emotional or extreme.) These are my experiences, here in Nashville. It is the total opposite of Memphis, everything centers around the Music City theme which is annoying. There is no real diversity. The people are not as friendly, and seem to all have a condescending attitudes. Outside the Rivergate,,Opry Mills mall, and Downtown (which get boring quickly) you don`t have much to do. The roads are crappy, I cannot count how many times I cursed myself for hitting one of those deep axle damaging potholes. Friendships here don`t last long. Only if you all have something to gain, or can provide a service, determines how long the friendship will last. (No Lie! I`ve burn through SO MANY people like that!!)There are jobs avaialble but the competition is high, and sometimes you may not be the RIGHT FIT to work in certain areas. I got told that twice by recruiters on two IT positions. Not a good position to be in when this is your livelihood. Getting around in the city is terrible, and will MOST LIKELY, and I mean almost ALWAYS involve getting on this dreaded interstate. And don`t forget the traffic which bottlenecks for even the slightest mishap. Briley Parkway is the only decent Interstate they have, but it leads away from the Downtown area, which is the heart of Nashville and most of the tasks you need to complete. Overall, I left because of the typical issues with Memphis. However, After going back for personal reasons, I have to say Memphis has it good points. Honestly, depending on the kind of person you are, you either love or hate Nashville. Just know that this place is not for EVERYONE, if you understand.
